A Girl’s Weekend

A Girl’s Weekend

The long awaited camping weekend with my daughter, Lani, and granddaughter, Phoebe, finally arrived. We had planned to camp in Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri but with all the rain they had recently our reservation was cancelled due to the park being closed. So we chose to go to a campground at Milford Lake in Kansas. The was a Corp of Engineers campground called Curtis Creek. It was less than a three hour drive away. There were some challenges…

Lessons Learned

Lessons Learned

Shortly into this year a coworker told me about a journal she had gotten for Christmas. It was the Dragontree Rituals for Living Dreambook and Planner. I’ve been someone who kept a journal at various times of my life.  I found doing so helpful and enjoyable. So I purchased one of these and started filling it out. This journal is unique.  It begins by guiding you to answer questions about your core values, gifts and life purpose. It also guides…

How Shall I Decorate the Casita

How Shall I Decorate the Casita

I have always loved to decorate my home. I enjoy the process of creating an atmosphere that I enjoy spending time in. It has always seemed to me that you learn about someone in how they choose to decorate and what they surround themselves with in their home. The Casita will be no different for me. I want to create an environment that I love to be in and that expresses who I am and things that I love. There…

Some Local Exploring

Some Local Exploring

It just didn’t work out for us to travel this weekend, which was a little disappointing.  After many, many days of rain and gray skies we have sunshine today! So, even though we couldn’t go far, Buddy and I decided to do some exploring. The first place we found, which would have been great places to hike, had a sign posted that said no dogs.  Bummer, if the dogs can’t go it just doesn’t appeal to me. We finally found…

On Being a Beginner Birder

On Being a Beginner Birder

I think it’s important that an individual be able to laugh at themselves. Well, thinking of myself as a beginner birder definitely has me laughing. To start off I think you should all know that I tend to be a goal driven person. I like setting goals and I really like achieving them. There is something about checking “done” that makes me feel so good. My journey as a beginner birder is no different! To begin with I, of course,…

Our First Campsite

Our First Campsite

After finishing up all the modifications at Little House Customs we head out to our first campsite. Originally I had planned to return to the city park we stayed at the night before but they finished all the modifications by 1:00 so we had time to venture further down the road. I had wanted to go to Ouachita National Forest for the rest of the week. But, the weather predictions of rain and thunder storms had me rethinking that plan….

Like the Little Engine

Like the Little Engine

Just like the little engine I have been telling myself over the last few months, “I think I can, I think I can.”  I’ve been telling everyone that would stand still long enough to listen all about my plans to travel.  But deep down, in the very dark recesses of my heart, I was so afraid I couldn’t. The doubts would fill my mind. What if I find that it’s too scary to pull a trailer. What if I’m too overwhelmed…

Random Thoughts While Traveling

Random Thoughts While Traveling

Prior to starting my trip to pick up the Casita I purchased a Garmin GPS devise. When I programmed in the first leg of the trip I chose a route that was off the beaten path. Less main highway, more country to see. I enjoy driving. I actually enjoy driving alone. I find that I tend to think about things when I am on the road that I don’t usually think about. This trip was no different. As I traveled…

This is happening!

This is happening!

Friday, March 17, 2017 The day is almost here! This is actually happening! Tomorrow the troops and I hit the road and start our adventures. The 4-Runner is packed. The “need to have it” lists are checked off. We are really, really doing this! I am beyond excited…..and just a little bit scared. Buddy’s travel space is ready…..  I will add his “Ducky” and a bone to chew on in case he gets bored.  Ginger’s bed will be added in the…
